Web in my future

Post by Cbigbear on Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:36 pm

I made an all day sit last Thrus so decide to use my Summit Bushmaster. This was the first time I have use it this season been using my Loc-on & sticks, but I need comfort for this hunt. After the hunt I decided before next yr I need a light weight, quiet, & comfortable stand. Right now I have the loc-on that's light & quiet but not comfortable enough for all day & then I have the Bushmaster that almost as good as my lazy boy but a nightmare to pack & twangs if you hit a blade of grass. The only thing out there right now that fits all three requirements is the Guido's Web. Kevin has posted on AT that he's working on a web that will be lighter than the GW. I'm going to hold out to check out his web but will have either Kevin's new web or a G web before next yr.

For you guys that have the Guido's web are they comfortable enough for an all day hunt?

I got the highly anticipated call from Mr. Butch lastnight. My GW will be on the truck today! The climbing straps are also in route, so a GW vid from me is my next project on the list.

Byw, I sent a link to the forum intro video. He really likes the forum, & said it will be helpful in a lot of ways! Smile

I don't have nor have I been able to try any of the webs. I do see where they can be a great tool and I have heard the GW is great for all day hunting. Some ppl don't like or care for the fact they have to be facing the tree.

For Me I wouldn't mind that since I'm a true Tree hugger.. I mean I hug trees when I climb them, putting a straps around them.

Several years ago I was at the AMO show and there was a guy hanging from a contraption called a Tree Suit. I watched that guy several times and wondered if it would work. I went back the next year and he was back so I watched some more and asked a bunch of questions. I went home and a couple months later called and ordered one. I used it a couple times and became a dealer as I had an archery shop at the time. I used that thing a few years and found it to be comfortable enough and easy to shoot out of with my longbows. Facing the tree is no problem.

I had a Guidos Web for a short time. It was a friends, not the right size so it didn't fit right so I didn't give it a legitimate shot. Tree Suit is out of business. I still have one and use it occasionally. It is a different contraption than the web but fills the same need for a light weight safe way to hunt in the air. One of these days I will probably get a web and give it a good try. It looks like a comfortable sit.

I sat in the GW for the first time today. I don't want to be over the top, but this thing is AMAZINGLY comfy, I couldn't believe it! I just sat there with a big smile on my face!

I tried the strap to climb, it works like a charm. All I did was sit & stand, VERY EASY! I just couldn't wait until next Saturday, when I do the GW vid. I hate that I have thought about making this purchase for 4 years, but am so elated that I finally have it. I know that the word HEAVY is a relative term to different folks. I'm here to tell ya, this thing on my back is nothing more than a thick wool coat. I can't wait to film it next weekend!!! Very Happy

I'm planning on getting a web this spring. AT has a couple good threads on it also. They talk about a bridge that the saddle has so you can just about turn around in the thing. It's just a two foot strap that you can put on the web also.

I wish I could afford one. I've been wanting to try it out in my hunting areas as some of the places I like to hunt, are a good long walk in.

If you climb with the sit-stand method; what do you rest your feet on?
