Stay On Target

Post by SlowBow on Mon Oct 14, 2013 5:43 pm

Just came in from sending a few down at a target. Wanted to relay a lesson I learned from years past. Now that the season is open, more time is spent sitting on stand than on the range. That's good, and bad. While we all love to hunt, you have to keep target shooting to make sure your sights are zeroed.

There are many things out in the woods, twigs, briar, that can grab and twist your peep. Bumping you bow around hauling it through the woods and up and down out of the tree can jostle your pins.

Not shooting for extended periods can relax muscle memory you need for proper anchor points and shooting technique.

Be sure that your bow will be on target when that deer creeps by below your stand. Keep target shooting throughout the season in progress. That way, you wont shoot a foot over a deers back like I did a few years ago because I had been hunting hard for two weeks and failed to check my zero before I left on a trip to Virginia.

Great advice Slowbow. This is something that many bowhunters fail to realize.
