Off Season Itinerary

Post by SlowBow on Thu Mar 20, 2014 9:09 pm

Thought it might be interesting to see what folks have planned during the off season. What are some of your plans for this summer? I know theres scouting, but what else might you find yourself getting into until the season opens back up?

Practicing the recurve and learning instinctive shooting. Man it's been real fun so far. So much simpler, more relaxing, I don't even think as much. Loving it.

I have not had a chance to scout at all this winter, but hope to get out soon. Wish I lived 30 mins from the hunting grounds! I'd be there every weekend.

Turkey season coming up, that's always fun. I don't scout for em like I do for deer. The whole calling thing just is exciting. Actually that reminds me, I need to pickup a mouth call and practice!

Just got my mouth calls, and I went back to last springs video and have been watching and imitating calls I recorded from live hens while in the field filming last spring. They are the best teachers. I'm heading south for turkey this year, looks like I picked a good year to head south with the weather like it is. From there, I plan on getting out with the rest of the crew and filming our Herping Maryland series, and also another season of Frugal Fishing for the website. Have big plans for some exotic adventures over the summer  as well. But that's going to remain a surprise, it will allow me to indulge in my video taping addiction too.

Oh yeah and I'm also fixing up the house. The last two weeks I have been putting in new doorframes, doors, plumbing pipe. The good thing is it gives me a free pass for turkey season.

I'm working the max I can, working on my truck, and go shark fishing in my kayak as usual.

Growing watermelons and work. Self employed so work takes precedence.
