Experience with eTrex?

Post by SlowBow on Wed Jan 18, 2012 9:29 pm

Anyone have any experience with Garmin eTrex Legend HCx?

My son can be a bit directionally challenged, his birthday is coming. It seems like a fairly good unit that won't bust the budget.

Anyone used one or have any thoughts on it?

A friend has one and really likes it.. He has 6 different makes of GPS's. Have you checked youtube on a review of that model?

I have a new etrex30.. its awesome. Mainly when i get to my starting point. I turn it on.. mark my waypoint, turn it off and walk. When I'm finished I turn it out.. find the waypoint.. pick a bearing, turn it off and walk back.. once in a while turn it back on to adjust my bearing.. its a life saver.. just make sure you always carry an extra set of batteries just in case. You can also do so much more things with it.. but i just use it like that to keep it simple.

I'm completely dependent on my etrex. I'm not sure what model I have, buts about 3 years old. Never heard of the Hcx
