Using a Back/Shoulder Quiver

Post by madeforthewoods on Sun Sep 10, 2017 7:53 pm

Anyone use one? if so what do you find are the advantages and disadvantages of them for hunting?
I'm thinking of using one this season with my compound to make my bow itself a bit lighter. I already shoot it instinctive so the absence of sights and whatnot also lightens the load. I'm a little concerned though as it seems like my arrows might clank around in it a little bit.

I made a shoulder quiver and used it for a couple years and really enjoyed it. Got a friend back into bow hunting last year and he liked the design so I set him up with a bow and that quiver. I found that while stalking and still hunting I preferred the shoulder quiver. Your able to keep the feathers pointed behind you while moving through thickets with brush, with no noticeable noise. While sitting it can be placed wear ever it best suits you for quick arrow retrieval when needed. It works well for tree stand hunting too. I do have a back quiver but it is to stiff for hunting IMO. I would think you would want a softer more pliable quiver to form to the arrows so they wouldn't clank around when moving.
