3rd. annual Mack Shack Hare Scramble

Post by Northwoodslayer on Fri Mar 30, 2012 3:45 pm

Well, last weekend (Sat. & Sun.) we held our annual Mack Shack Hare Scramble. Every year, we get a bunch of friends and family together and hunt rabbits with a fun shoot for a trophy the following day.
This year there were only 6 of us taking 6 hares on Saturday. We would have had 8 but they shook the arrows and got away. Myself and best friend tied for 1st. as we shot 1 1/2 hares apiece.( Someone hits a rabbit, it gets away and the one who kills it claims it for body count)It was our best ever! Last year, we were'nt able to hold it as some of us had family obligations and couldn't make it. The prior year there were 10 of us and we got 5 hares. My best friend won the turkey shoot the following day. It is a blast! I would encourage all of you to get out and shoot rabbits/ hares with your bows. They are great table fare and I'll tell you what, after weaving an arrow successfully thru the brush and killing rabbits, that buck next year doesn't stand a chance! I have soem pics with more to come.
