Not bad bro. I never tried shooting a compound with fingers, does the string angle pinch your fingers much?

Cbigbear. I don't notice the string at all, really. I thought I may need a glove, but after trying both and chatting with Dave I let the glove go. Less is more in my book and the idea of being able to shoot without finding my glove or release is pretty dang cool. Let me know if you give it a go:)

Dave, I agree. Slowing down is tough. It's a mental thing. I have had the "issue" since my military days and really all my life. Fast, explosive, fire then aim. That said, I think it is a maturity issue as well and I am beginning to gain the discipline. I will set my will to do so and trust that the rest will follow. Also, after dropping my bow I am starting to loosely close my hand. With the less is more idea I am reticent to look at a sling, but am always open to the experience of others. Let me know what you think.

THANK YOU

As long as the bow arm is as still as possible, either keep the hand open or closed. You will see which works best.

As for the speed issue, this is where a shot routine is critical. once at full draw & all is still, give a 2 second count & let it go.

Good. saw that in the Rick Welch shooting video you did when he was counting behind you during a shot, I thought about that when I read your feedback. Will do. As for the bow hand, got it. Will see what fits.

Ever since I got my longbow the compound hasn't even made it out the case.

Can you post up a video of your shooting side? I'd like to see your anchor point.

Yes. I will get one out. I am going through a couple of adjustments on my bow then will post one up. Just verbally I can tell you the corner of my mouth, but while shooting this way so much of my concentration is on the point I want to hit, I really don't pay attention. Will post soon.

The let off on compounds really makes it a lot harder to shoot instintive that and you can't lock the elbow like you do with with compounds you rally shoot that smooth draw and release on instintive shooting. Not lock your elbow defeats compounds form.
Not saying it can't be done some people can but only to and exstent but as a general rule 99% of people but their sites back on.

Thanks Uncle Bob. Hope to get my final one on this topic out before too long. Just to close the circle with what I ended up with and how I am shooting. Very Happy

I tried shooting bare fingers and liked it. Of course I'm only shooting a 45# recurve so it's not bad at all.

Yeah, I had to drop the poundage to stay with fingers. I have shot with a glove and a tab and am shooting tab for now. Have learned a lot and hope to post up a final segment on the journey before too long. It is hunting season however:) Happy Hunting Uncle Bob:)
